Disney has announced a new Star Wars publishing program featuring a host of tie-in comics and novels for the Disney+ show, The Mandalorian. Included in the tie-ins are an art book, novel, several children's books and an entire comics run from Marvel and IDW Publishing.

The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One) is set to release on Dec. 15 and is written by Phil Szostak, the creative art manager for Lucasfilm. Szostak had previously written art books for The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. As such, it makes sense that he would be tapped to write this new art book for The Mandalorian, which will also include a foreword from Doug Chiang, who served as art director for the show. The book will be published by Abrams Books, and if done in the style of previous Star Wars art books will contain hundreds of illustrations and pieces of concept art, along with breakdowns of the creative processes used to create those visuals.

The Mandalorian: Original Novel is also set to release in December and is written by Adam Christopher, who previously contributed to A Certain Point of View, a Star Wars anthology series published in honor of the series' 40th anniversary. The book's plot and story are currently unknown, but it will be published by Del Rey Books, who currently publish other Star Wars novels. The book's current working title on the Penguin Random House website is "Sparrow," although it's unclear if that name is relevant to the book's contents.

Other projects that fall under The Mandalorian publishing program umbrella include The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide, written by Pablo Hidalgo, two Mandalorian-based children's books written by Brooke Vitale and The Mandalorian: Junior Novelization written by Joe Schreiber. There's also the matter of the Marvel and IDW tie-in series, which is "Mandalorian-inspired," according to the official release, although details such as the plot, writers or artists have currently yet to be announced. IDW currently publishes a juvenile comics anthology series under the label of Star Wars Adventures.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Season 1 is available now on Disney+, with Season 2 premiering in October.
