While many Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting Din Djarin's first feature-film adventure, they may need to wait some time.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, insiders familiar with Lucasfilm's process are confident that The Mandalorian's massive crossover movie will likely only hit cinemas after Rey's solo adventure, which currently doesn't have a release date. Rey's movie, which was initially under the purview of Damon Lindelof before being taken over by Stephen Knight, will follow the fan-favorite Jedi as she builds a new Jedi Order with the aim of re-establishing the group in the galaxy far, far away.

The only in-development Star Wars movie that has a release window is James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi, which is aiming for a December 2025 premiere. The narrative is set thousands of years before the events of the Prequel Trilogy and will chronicle how the Jedi Order came to first harness the Force.

Star Wars Movies Abound

Unveiled as a part of Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has specified that the studio's intention with the new slate of movies is to expand the franchise out in every direction. Unlike previous film releases, the upcoming installments will not be part of a core trilogy but are designed to build on the past, the present and the future. While specific details on the projects' productions have yet to revealed, Kennedy has promised fans that they're all "pretty far along" in development.

While many fans are excited to see The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka collide on the big screen, others are excited to see Rey once again pick up her iconic lightsaber. Speaking about Daisy Ridley's return, Kennedy was adamant that the actor was elated to don her Jedi robes once again. "I started out by just saying, 'Hey, I think we're getting near being ready,'" Kennedy said. "We've been talking a lot about what we're doing in the movie space and I said, 'I think we're getting close to being ready. How would you like to go to [Star Wars] Celebration?' That was really the beginning of it. She was out of her mind excited."

As for The Mandalorian, Filoni has promised fans that cinematic event will feature faces from both Star Wars live-action and animated offerings. Who these are remains to be seen, but many are expected Grand Admiral Thrawn to play a key role in the story.
