Disney+ is officially an Emmy-winning streaming platform, with The Mandalorian taking home five major awards for its first two episodes.

During Night 3 of the 2020 Creative Arts Emmys livestream, the acclaimed Star Wars TV show won two awards for "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" and three for "Chapter 2: The Child." The first episode's wins include Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour) and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation. Likewise, the second episode scored a major win for Disney+'s VFX department with Outstanding Visual Effects, as well as Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour) and Outstanding Sound Mixing in a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.

The Mandalorian won five awards out of its initial eight nominations for the Creative Arts awards, losing two to the HBO shows Watchmen (Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes) and Succession (Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Dramatic Series) and one to CBS All Access' Star Trek: Picard (Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie or Special). However, this still puts the show ahead of Watchmen's four current Emmy wins by a single victory. Disney+ posted celebratory Twitter posts congratulating the creative and VFX teams for their accomplishments, each featuring images and behind-the-scenes photos from their respective episodes.

Out of The Mandalorian's original 15 nominations, seven are still up for grabs. Two of them -- Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score) for composer Ludwig Göransson and Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for Taika Waititi as bounty hunter droid-turned reprogramed caretaker IG-11 -- will be given out during the Scripted Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Sept. 17. The remaining awards will be part of the main Primetime ceremony, which will air on ABC on Sept. 20.

The Mandalorian recently aired a trailer for its highly anticipated second season, which follows the titular bounty hunter as he tries to protect the Force-sensitive Child (dubbed "Baby Yoda") from outside threats, including the remnants of the Galactic Empire and Moff Gideon. The trailer featured the return of allies Greef Karga and Cara Dune, but noticeably absent is Rosario Dawson, who's reportedly playing Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan Ahsoka Tano.
