With Star Wars' return to the big screen in 2015, inevitable theories surrounding the sequel trilogy started to come to light. This was exacerbated by the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where it's arguable that more questions were raised than answered. While the backstory of Luke Skywalker was revealed, where the overall story was leading was still unknown, and fans were searching for any clues that could be used to theorize. Among all the theories was the young boy at the very end of the movie, who seemingly used the Force to lift a broom.

The young boy was introduced as a stable hand on Canto Bight as Finn and Rose tried to escape the casino planet. Upon realizing they're with the Resistance, he releases the racing animals and provides them a means of escape. And from then on, it seems as though the boy won't return, yet the final scene of the movie cuts back to him as he listens to the story of Luke Skywalker being told by another child. The story is cut off by their master walking in, and the boy goes outside to grab a broom with the Force, looking up to the stars. But who is the kid at the end of The Last Jedi?

The Last Jedi's Boy Does Have a Story - But His Meaning Is Deeper Than His Narrative

The unexpected scene was clearly meant to reflect director Rian Johnson's view of Star Wars, as a young boy is inspired by the tales of the Jedi. But many fans believed the ending held more meaning and hinted at things yet to come. Some thought the next movie would see a large time jump, with Rey teaching a school of young Jedi, whereas more far-fetched theories believed the boy would become a central character. Yet, in the end, he was never seen again.

But as with everything in Star Wars, lore has been released surrounding the character. Through Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary, it's said that the young boy's name is Temiri Blagg, and he was born on the planet Contonica. While nothing is known about his parents, it's said that they abandoned him at the casino after a gambling loss, as happened to many children in the area. An alien by the name of Bargwill Tomder eventually took Temiri and two other children into his care, using them as labor for his stable.

Although it's not known how long he'd been abandoned, Temiri lived in poor conditions along with Arashell Sar and Oniho Zaya, who had each been gambled by their parents. And other than that, no more has been revealed about the character since, which even surprised the young actor himself. Played by Temirlan Blaev, he spoke to IGN about missing out on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, saying how he thought "Rey would've trained me or helped me in some way."

But in the end, the character is all about the symbolism, as he represents every young Star Wars fan who has dreamed of becoming a Jedi. And this theme was prominent all throughout The Last Jedi, as Johnson wanted Rey to be a nobody, despite the idea being reversed in The Rise of Skywalker.
