SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in theaters now.

Just weeks after Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit theaters, animator John Stratman has recreated the climactic encounter between Kylo Ren and his former master Luke Skywalker in 16-bit, pixelated glory.

2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens centered around one mystery: the whereabouts of the legendary Luke Skywalker. Though his presence is felt throughout The Force Awakens, it isn't until The Last Jedi that we really get any answers about what happened to Luke. However, he doesn't join the action until the end of the film, where he engages in a fateful battle with Kylo Ren on the planet Crait.

As it turns out, the fabled Jedi master who defeated Darth Vader and helped bring an end to the Empire went into self-imposed exile prior to Last Jedi after inadvertently creating Kylo Ren. It's only after Rey confronts him that he shows up to face his villainous nephew, albeit as a Force projection of his younger self.

In theaters worldwide, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Benicio Del Toro as ‘DJ’, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.
