One of the more surprising developments in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the hint at a possible romantic relationship between Finn and Rose Tico, and it sounds like this will be further explored in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
While promoting the upcoming sequel at D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, returning actor Rose Marie Tran hinted that the film would build off the kiss between the two characters at the end of Episode VIII in response to a red carpet question about the possibility of romance between the two. "I think that there are a lot of really cool things that happen in this movie," teased Tran in an interview with Variety. "As to what, they are, I cannot say but I'm excited for people to kind of further explore these relationships between all these incredible characters."

While appearing at Star Wars Celebration this past April, filmmaker J.J. Abrams confirmed Tran's return as Rose, calling her character and Tran's casting as "the greatest thing" filmmaker Rian Johnson did for the Star Wars mythos to date. Whether the time jump between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker will see major development in the love triangle between Rose, Finn and Rey has yet to be revealed.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives on Dec. 20.
