Star Wars' Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo would love the chance to reunite with his Solo: A Star Wars Story costar Alden Ehrenreich.

Speaking with THR, Suotamo discussed his time with the Star Wars franchise and when asked about whether he keeps in touch with Ehrenreich since Solo, he stated, "I do keep in touch with Alden every once in a while, but I haven’t seen him since the premieres. Every now and then, we’ll message each other, and I hope he’s doing great. If we ever return to Solo, I can’t wait to work with him again."

Solo: A Star War Story is a spinoff film that explores young Han Solo's foray into galactic smuggling, with Ehrenreich as the titular character and Suotamo as the Wookiee Chewbacca. Other notable cast members include Emilia Clarke as Solo's love interest Qi'ra, Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian and Woody Harrelson as Beckett.

While the film performed well with critics and audiences, its financial straits leave the chances of a sequel questionable.

Suotamo has been playing the fan-favorite Wookiee since 2015's The Force Awakens, where he shared the role with original actor Peter Mayhew. Since that film, Suotamo took over the mantle of Chewbacca permanently after Mayhew died of a heart attack in April 2019.

Suotamo can currently be seen as Chewbacca in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, the film also stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant.
