Following the reveal of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's first trailer during Star Wars Celebration, fans quickly began to form theories about the identity of a mysterious figure seen in a bacta tank.

Although the footage gives fans numerous details to pick apart, the identity of the tank's inhabitant has been far and away the most discussed on sites like Reddit. Towards the tail-end of the trailer, viewers get a quick glimpse of the figure floating in a bacta tank in a dimly lit room while series protagonist Cal Kestis and his droid BD-1 look on. Because of the lighting, distortion from the water and a mask covering the lower half of the face, there are few details for fans to go on. The theories range dramatically, with some convinced they're seeing a Cal clone to others joking the character's white hair means a Witcher crossover.

While the clone theory held some sway with a few fans, others pointed out the figure's white hair is in stark contrast to Cal's, which is red like his actor and model Cameron Monaghan. One of the more popular suggestions was Jedi Master and General Rahm Kota, an important figure during the clone wars who survived the slaughter of his fellow Jedi during the Order 66 attack. Kota has appeared in several Star Wars projects, including comics, The Force Unleased novel and the game Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron.

Perhaps the most popular theory is that the figure is Jedi: Fallen Order antagonist Jedi Master Taron Malicos. Like Malicos, the figure has scars on their chest and shoulders, though they look different from before, and long, white hair. However, another observation might disprove this and other suggestions. As someone noted, the figure's right arm is unseen in the tank, and earlier in the trailer, Cal is shown fighting a one-armed Jedi who uses a red lightsaber in their left hand, leading the fan to guess the figure in the tank is a legendary Sith of some kind. Although Malicos was a Sith, he was not missing an arm.
