In the world of Star Wars, the Jedi always seem to know what is best. People tend to listen to what they have to say, seeing as everyone thinks they are always right. But no one is ever always right, and no matter how fantastic and amazing the Jedi are, they still have flaws and make mistakes.

It has been a trend in the Star Wars films that the Jedi will scold and condemn and action for not following the teachings of the Jedi. But then they will do the same thing themselves, so it is to the point where viewers cannot ignore the hypocrisy of the Jedi anymore.

10 Banning Jedi From Having Emotions

Anakin And Padme

It is taught to young Jedis in training that they have to suppress all emotions in order to be a good Jedi. That emotion will only lead a Jedi to the dark side, so when the Jedi train all of the children (who will hopefully later become Jedi) they teach them not to feel anything because feeling makes a person unstable.

But in actuality, there are a few Jedi who did have relationships and got feelings involved such as Anakin Skywalker. Now, even though he did become Darth Vader, his transition to his alternate persona was because he was realizing that some of what the Jedi were doing was wrong, it was not necessarily because of his relationship with Padmé.

9 Manipulating The Minds Of Others

Obi-Wan's Iconic "These Are Not The Droids You Are Looking For"

Throughout the movies, the Jedi always frowned down upon anyone who used their mind control abilities for "evil" (even though they did a fair share of evil things). The Sith mostly used mind control abilities, so for that reason it was never popular amongst Jedi. But there were still Jedi that used it, such as in the iconic scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi tells the Stormtroopers "These are not the droids you are looking for." This is clearly an act of hypocrisy because seeing how long Obi-Wan was a Jedi, he probably knew this was wrong, yet he did it anyway.

8 The Jedi Recruitment Process

The Young Jedi Training

It is drilled into the mind of a Jedi that the ultimate reason for their still being a Jedi order is to keep the peace in the galaxy and to ensure there is justice for all. But how the Jedi take in recruitments is anything but keeping the peace. They basically take four children who they sense have a strong connection with the Force and take the kids away from their parents from as young as the age of three.

On top of that the kids never get to see their parents again because they are not allowed to have any emotional connections. Of course, taking away kids from their parents and never allowing them to see their parents again is going to cause a disturbance in the universe if the Jedi have been doing it for so long, so they are going against their word.

7 They Think They Are Unstoppable

The Jedi Order Lead By Mace Windu

The movies were always keen to make the audience aware that the Jedi Order has been around for thousands of years, and because they have been around for so long they are a practically unstoppable force. The Jedi frown on the fact that the Sith seem to think of themselves as unmovable, but the Jedi think this about themselves as well, despite the fact that they do not like how the Sith think of themselves in this way. This is simply another instance where the Jedi need to ask themselves are they actually being the "good guys" if they are using the same mentality as the "bad guys".

6 Viewing Everything On The Dark Side As Bad, And Everything On The Light Side As Good

Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker

As mentioned before, over the years the Jedi have developed a very warped mindset to justify their own beliefs. One of these is that everything the Sith do is inherently evil and everything the Jedi do is good, when the Jedi have done their fair share of bad things from an observational standpoint. But this is not true, for instance, a Sith Lord going by the name of Darth Plagueis The Wise had the ability to heal people.

This is not a bad thing but the Jedi think of it as bad. In terms of the Jedi Order, they have done things such as stealing ships (property of others) and destroying them. That is not something that good people do. This is not right, but the Jedi do nothing to check themselves.

5 Talk About Peace But Leave Behind Destruction

Kylo Ren And Rey Fighting The Red Gaurds

The Jedi Order was founded on the concept of peace and justice, yet they do the opposite of what they preach which is definitely hypocrisy on their part. In practically every Star Wars movie, whenever Luke, Anakin, or Rey goes to do something that is supposedly in the name of peace throughout the galaxy they end up making a mess out of things, leaving behind a mess (both literally and in the political sense) that others have to clean up.

4 They Get Ride Of Anyone Who Challenges Them

Dark Jedi

It has become obvious throughout the movies that the Jedi do not like obstacles, whether that be an impenetrable ship or just regular people who do not want the Jedi to come into their planet and destroy everything. These Force-users will dispose of anyone who gets in their way, this can even come back around to the "these are not the droids you are looking for" line where the Storm Troopers were in the way of Obi-Wan and he did what he "had" to do.

3 They Are Not Technically Suppose To Kill Yet They Do It Anyway

Luke Skywalker Fighting Darth Vadar

Even though the Jedi are incredibly hypocritical, they do still have a code of sorts that they have to follow and one of the things that they are highly suggested no to do is kill other people. Yet they do it anyway. The Sith are not afraid to kill people if they have to and they relish the adrenaline of doing so. Jedi are not like that but they will still do it, which beg the question; does that make the Jedi as "bad" as the Sith? Supposedly the Jedi are only supposed to kill in self-defense but there are have been plenty of times they whipped out their lightsabers for no reason.

2 Protectors Of Peace And Justice, Yet There Are Slaves

Qui-Gon Jinn And Anakin Skywalker's Mother

One of the biggest questions about the Star Wars universe, is that why are there slaves in this world when the Jedi stand for things such as justice? Slavery definitely goes against the freedom and justice of people, yet they do nothing about it. This was clear in Star Wars: Episode I--The Phantom Menace when Qui-Gon Jinn took Anakin away from his mom (who was a slave) and did nothing. Anakin even asking Qui-Gon if he could help her and even though he may have he didn't put a lot of effort into it, especially since he was taking her child.

1 They Are Extremists

Light Side VS Dark Side

In reality, the original purpose of the Jedi was that they were supposed to be neutral protectors for the galaxy. A group of individuals that would listen to both sides of a dispute and try to find a fair middle ground. But that is not what the Jedi evolved into — instead, they became an extremist version of the light side. There is even a quote from Obi-Wan saying "Only the Sith deals in absolutes" when that statements itself is an extreme. So Obi-Wan's words contradict themselves, making the Jedi order look more like hypocrites.
