The next Star Wars Jedi game may show players the effects of growing up under the threat of the Dark Side, if voice actor Cameron Monaghan has any say in it. During an interview with CBR about his upcoming thriller Shattered, the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order voice actor revealed not only what he loves about his character, Cal Kestis, but also what he hopes to see for Cal in future games.
When CBR asked what it was like to get to join the Star Wars franchise, Monaghan said, "It was an absolute privilege to be able to be a part of the canon Star Wars universe. I think that Cal is a great addition to Star Wars, and I love how grounded Cal is and how his first story in Jedi: Fallen Order was an exploration of trauma and loss, and in many ways, getting over PTSD. I thought that was such an interesting aspect to bring into Star Wars."
"Going forward, I would very much like to see us continue to explore Cal, and also put him in very different situations, and see how he changes as he gets older, as he ages throughout a very dark period," he added.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a popular action-adventure game from 2019. The story follows former Jedi padawan Cal Kestis as he fights back against the Dark Side with a ragtag group of heroes. In the first game, Cal is on the run from the Empire's Inquisitors as he attempts to finish his Jedi training and rebuild the Order itself. While those are no small feats, Cal must also grapple with his own troubled past. With a large fan-base and critical acclaim, a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was almost guaranteed.
While production news has mostly been kept secret, recent reports suggest that the sequel is slated for release in late 2022 and will drop the subtitle Fallen Order. The sequel's storyline is still under wraps, but Monaghan's hopes to explore how Cal ages and the issues of growing up and coming of age during a dark period of Star Wars history may provide some clues for what to expect in the next Star Wars Jedi game.
