'Star Wars': Jason Isaacs Joins 'Rebels,' 'Episode VII' Adds Newcomer

Lucasfilm is bringing in some of that Harry Potter magic for the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels. Entertainment Weekly reports that Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the film franchise, has signed on to voice the The Inquisitor.

“He’s cold, he’s analytical, he doesn’t get angry,” Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo told EW. “We all took care to make sure our villains have real presence and our heroes just can’t walk all over him. This isn’t like cartoons I grew up with in the 80s where you’d have the villain lose every week and yet every week we’d have to believe he’s some sort of threat. When The Inquisitor shows up, it means something significant and it’s a definite challenge for our heroes.”

Fans have known what the Empire-loving bad guy looks like since New York Comic Con, but now they can have a better idea of what e will sound like when the series launches this fall.

In other Star Wars casting news, 24: Live Another Day actress Christina Chong has joined the cast of Episode VII, TheWrap reports. As you might expect, nothing is known about the part.

Chong has been acting since 2008, and has appeared on Doctor Who and was recently announced as the female lead in the video game adaptation Halo: Nightfall.

Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to arrive Dec. 18, 2015.
