Many of the franchise's fan-favorite characters are returning in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but not every character in the upcoming sequel will be a familiar face.

Naomi Ackie will portray a new character named Jannah in Episode IX, with the first official still of the character now revealed.

While little is known about the character, she is rumored to be the daughter of Lando Calrissian, which Ackie refused to confirm or deny while appearing at the film's panel during Star Wars Celebration in Chicago this weekend.

An up-and-coming actor, Ackie previously appeared in the acclaimed 2016 film Lady Macbeth and opposite Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in a ninth season episode of Doctor Who alongside Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Black Panther star Letitia Wright.
