One of the High Republic's newest Jedi, Orla Jareni, channels Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Dark Rey in her choice of lightsaber.

As revealed during Star Wars: The High Republic Show, Orla is a Wayseeker who'll play a significant role in Claudia Gray's upcoming novel Into the Dark. Much like Dark Rey, she wields a double-sided lightsaber with a hinge in the middle of the hilt, and the novel "will feature flashbacks to Orla’s time as a Padawan and follow her journey to Jedi Knighthood."

The High Republic takes place 200 years before the Skywalker saga, in the golden age of the Republic. Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel José Older, Cavan Scott and Charles Soule are all attached to the project, which crosses between Disney-Lucasfilm Press, IDW Publishing and Marvel Comics. The interconnected story begins when a massive hyperspace disaster sends space debris hurtling toward inhabited worlds, forcing the Jedi to step up and protect the Republic. However, in doing so, they encounter the villainous Nihil, a group of space marauders who may have a connection to the inciting incident.

The High Republic will continue on Feb. 2 with Gray's Into the Dark and Feb. 21 with Older and Harvey Tolibao's The High Republic Adventures #1.
