The first look at IDW Publishing's Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1 has been released.

The issue focuses on a group of Padawans who come into conflict with the intergalactic raiders known as the Nihil. Leading the Padawans is a younger version of Jedi Master Yoda, who series writer Daniel Jose Older previously described as a "journeyman."

Older is joined by artist Harvey Tolibao and colorist Rebecca Nalty for the series. Even though The High Republic Adventures is targeted toward younger readers, it will apparently provide a "unique perspective" on pivotal moments in the Star Wars canon.

"I’m so very excited to be able to tell this epic story of Padawans as the galaxy changes dramatically around them and danger lurks around every corner," Older said in a statement. "Working on The High Republic has been a dream come true and getting to watch this world come to life through the brilliant art of Harvey Tolibao is one of the highlights of my career. I can’t wait for the fans to see what we’re cooking up."

Star Wars: The High Republic is a publishing initiative set 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. It spans through several novels and comics and will focus on the Jedi Order in its prime, as they deal with an intergalactic catastrophe.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1, by Daniel Jose Older and Harvey Tolibao, goes on sale in February 2021 from IDW Publishing.
