Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca writer Marc Guggenheim has confirmed that the upcoming Marvel comic book series will feature some major guest stars in the form of Qi'ra from Solo: A Star Wars Story and Black Krrsantan, who recently made his live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett.

"First, I happen to be a huge fan of Solo: A Star Wars Story. I don't feel that that film gets nearly the amount of love it should," Guggenheim told CBR in a forthcoming interview. "I find it thoroughly entertaining and a great Star Wars movie. But also, it was co-written by Lawrence Kasdan, who for my money, is the single greatest writer of Han Solo ever and I've tried my best to emulate his brand of dialogue."

When asked what the odds were of Qi'ra making an appearance in Han Solo & Chewbacca, Guggenheim said, "3,720 to one. Just kidding. Qi'ra not only makes an appearance in issue #3, there's also incredibly tight integration with the events of Crimson Reign #2."

The writer also discussed the challenges of writing Chewbacca, a character who speaks Shyriiwook instead of Basic. "It's absolutely a challenge but it's a fun one," Guggenheim said. "In fact, I'm doubling down on it -- literally and figuratively -- in issue #4, which is told exclusively from Chewie's P.O.V. and features newly minted Disney+ star Krrsantan. So in that issue, we have two Shyriiwook-speaking characters. Should be a piece of cake. No problem, at all..."

Played by Emilia Clarke, Qi'ra first appeared in the anthology film Solo, which hit theaters in 2018 and takes place several years prior to the events of the original Star Wars movie from 1977. Qi'ra was Han Solo's first chronological on-screen love, with the two having grown up together on the streets of Corellia. After Han was forced to leave Qi'ra behind amid their bid to escape the planet, Qi'ra was recruited by the criminal syndicate known as Crimson Dawn, secretly led by Maul.

Marvel recently revisited Qi'ra in Charles Soule and Steven Cummings' Star Wars: Crimson Reign, which takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (as does Soule's current run on Marvel's main Star Wars series). By this point in the timeline, Qi'ra is the leader of Crimson Dawn. However, Han Solo & Chewbacca turns the clock back, instead taking place between the events of Solo and 1977's Star Wars.

Meanwhile, Black Krrsantan -- or simply Krrsantan -- was created by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, first appearing in Marvel's Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 in 2015. The Wookiee bounty hunter is perhaps best known for his association with Dr. Chelli Lona Aphra, having been prominently featured in Marvel's Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comics. Played by Carey Jones, Krrsantan made his live-action debut in the second episode of the Disney+ original series The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year.

Interestingly, while Guggenheim suggests that Qi'ra and Black Krrsantan won't appear in Han Solo & Chewbacca until issues #3 and #4, respectively, the official synopsis for issue #1 teases a major guest appearance in its own right:

NEW SERIES – HAN SOLO IS BACK!

But wait! Isn't HAN still frozen in Carbonite? Yes. But you can't keep a good smuggler down. Set a few years before Episode IV: A New Hope, Han, his partner, CHEWBACCA and GREEDO, embark on a heist for JABBA THE HUTT. It's supposed to be an easy job. What could possibly go wrong? Well, for starters, how about a reunion with the very last person Han expected to see? The last page is a jaw-dropper…
