WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Star Wars Adventures: Smuggler's Run #2 by Greg Rucka, Alec Worley, Ingo Romling, and Edward Gauvin, on sale now.

In the Star Wars series, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia come across as the key figures who saved the Rebel Alliance in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. However, Han Solo and Chewbacca also played important roles in helping end the threat of the Empire. Granted, they may not have directly stood face-to-face with Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine, or blew Death Stars up with the Millennium Falcon, but their contributions cannot go unnoticed.

In Star Wars Adventures: Smuggler's Run #2, we actually discover that the Rebels owe them much more because thanks to one epic suicide mission, Han and Chewie saved the entire movement because they decided to fight with each other.

This story focuses on Han and Chewie heading to Cyrkon in the Outer Rim to track a Rebel called Ematt. He's a lieutenant with the Shrikes, a faction of loyalists to Leia, who's been scouting locations for the Rebels to base. Apart from these potential locations, he knows of current strongholds as well as regions where food, supplies, and weapons are hidden. In other words, he has a lot of info that could cripple the fight if he got caught by the Empire. After an Imperial ambush, he's gone into hiding so Han and Chewie have to get to him first before Commander Beck does and extracts the intel. Leia prefers them because they don't look and act like Rebels and will fit right in with the criminals roaming around the seedy planet. However, it goes awry when some bounty hunters ironically pass through and decide to capture them for Jabba. These hunters eventually sell them out to Beck, but as they flee, Han and Chewie find Ematt.

Sadly, when they get back to the Falcon, Beck's secretly waiting. Just when it seems like they're going to be taken prisoner, though, Han spots an ally up above the city's dome. This is Delia and as he realizes she's there to help them escape, he comes up with a distraction. He shoves Chewie and they start trading blows in a shocking sequence as the Wookiee quickly discerns what Han's doing. Hearkening back to the way they used a similar tactic in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beck's soldiers are taken aback as they're confused, but this allows Chewie to then grab Stormtroopers during the fracas and fling them into each other. Han was able to shake off the Wookiee's power punches himself, and he grabs a blaster to shoot up the shield above the dome.

This allows them to sneak Ematt onto the Falcon now that they have cover fire and an escape route, along with Delia, they take to the skies. Luckily, as much as Beck's ships try to use tractor beams, they're able to escape. In the end, Han feels like a champ because not only has he protected the Rebels all across the galaxy, he's scored a major win hoping to impress Leia.
