There are plenty of stories left to tell in the galaxy far, far away, according to Star Wars' Kathleen Kennedy.

According to Variety, the Lucasfilm president stated, "[Star Wars] could go on forever... if we have good storytellers, it will go on forever."

Kennedy has explained in the past what it takes to tell a Star Wars story. "Anyone who comes into the Star Wars universe needs to know that it's a three-, four-, five-year commitment," she said. "That's what it takes. You can't step in for a year and shoot something and then walk away…. It requires that kind of nurturing."

Star Wars kicked off in 1977 with the release of George Lucas' movie of the same name, which was later retitled Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. The film went on to gross over $775 million globally, making it one of the most financially successful movies of all time, when adjusted for inflation. It also won six Oscars at the 50th Academy Awards, including Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects.

The Star Wars franchise is made up of a wealth of movies, television series, comics, anime, video games and other forms of entertainment media, and more titles are coming our way. The most recent addition is Obi-Wan Kenobi, which follows the adventures of the titular exiled Jedi Master following the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have reprised their iconic roles from the prequel trilogy.

Moreover, the Andor series is set to premiere later this year. A spy thriller, the show will follow the titular character, who first appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and will feature the Rebels at their darkest hour during their battle with the Galactic Empire. Andor will star Diego Luna and will be directed by Tony Gilroy.

There are also new Star Wars films in development. While Patty Jenkins' highly anticipated Rogue Squadron was indefinitely delayed back in November 2021, iconic filmmaker Taika Waititi is making his own currently unnamed movie set in a galaxy far, far away. Little is known about the project other than Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Last Night in Soho) is attached to write the script.
