As construction continues on Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the Lucasfilm expansions to Disney's North American theme parks, Disney has announced new opening dates for the attractions.

The Disneyland expansion in Anaheim, California will now open on May 31, while the Walt Disney World expansion at Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida will open on August 29. Due to anticipated high demand, visitors will need to make a no-cost reservation if visiting the Disneyland attraction from May 31 through June 23. No advance reservation is currently required for the Disney World attraction at this time.

Star Wars-themed retailers and dining locations will be available at both locations from opening day in addition to the ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, which allows visitors to take to the stars in the iconic Corellian cruiser.

At a later date, a new ride tied to the sequel trilogy will open in both theme park expansions. Titled Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the ride will take visitors right into the middle of an immersive battle between the First Order and the Resistance for the fate of the galaxy. No opening date for the attraction has been announced at this time.
