A behind-the-scenes feature on the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Blu-ray reveals what an Ewok would look like without its signature fur.

Jake Lunt Davies, a Star Wars creature concept artist, shared an image on Instagram of an Ewok without the soft-looking fur that gives it its iconic teddy bearlike appearance. "Ewok sans fur," Davies captioned the image. "Scary stuff," even using the hashtag #sleepwell for his followers. He added that the photo is a BTS extra from The Rise of Skywalker when the Ewoks made their first appearance on the big screen since 1983. The image Davies shared is of Warwick Davis, who reprised his role as Wicket in Episode IX, as his costume is being fabricated "in the Creature Shop."

Davies was not the only person who thought furless Ewoks were pretty terrifying. Many fans have commented on his post, expressing their disdain over the blank staring, wide-mouthed, white-faced creature. One commenter said, "That's almost as scary as them blinking."

Ewoks made their Star Wars debut in 1983's The Return of the Jedi. Under Wicket, they assisted Princess Leia during the Battle of Endor against the Empire. The creatures returned to the Star Wars Universe in two made for TV movies: The Ewok Adventure in 1984 and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor in 1985, as well as other media before appearing in the latest Star Wars film.
