Forces of Destiny, the first Star Wars animated series to focus on the franchise's female heroes, is almost upon us. To celebrate, Lucasfilm has released a new trailer. The first of the eight animated shorts is set to premiere first on Disney's YouTube channel on July 3, then on Disney Channel proper on July 7.

The trailer features the further exploits of Leia Organa, Ahsoka Tano, Padmé Amidala, Rey, Sabine Wren and Jyn Erso. However, Hera Syndulla -- who was named as being part of the series in its original announcement -- is conspicuously absent. It is unclear whether on not the character will appear in the show's opening salvo of installments or whether Hera's many fans will have to wait for the second batch, which is expected to arrive in the fall.

The show will also be accompanied by a line of 11-inch “adventure figures,” intended to combine elements from traditional dolls, such as non-molded hair, with the articulation and accessories of traditional action figures.

Narrated by Lupita Nyong’o's Maz Kanata, the series features the vocal talents of many of the original Star Wars actors, including Daisy Ridley as Rey, Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano and Tiya Sirdar as Sabine Wren.
