Actor Michael B. Jordan is at the top of Hollywood food chain, with acclaim for his performances in Fruitvale Station and Black Panther. However, he still remembers not doing so well when he tried to join the Star Wars franchise.

"I think that was probably my worst audition to date," Jordan recalled while speaking with Variety about his audition for The Force Awakens. "I think it was I couldn't wrap my brain around some of the sides because you know when you're reading for these high-level projects, there's never really any specificity in the sides."

"Everything's like super vague; everything is in secret," he continued. "Reading through, I just couldn't connect it. I definitely bombed that one for sure."

The Force Awakens was released in December 2015 without Jordan, grossing $936.66 million domestically and more than $2 billion globally. That year, Jordan played Johnny Storm in the box office flop Fantastic Four, which generated scathing reviews. Later in 2015, he did better in the title role as Adonis Creed in Creed, a spinoff of the Rocky series that grossed $109.77 million domestically and $173.57 million globally, and rates 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Jordan previously worked with Creed director Ryan Coogler on Fruitvale Station, and the two reunited in Black Panther, which shot him to international stardom.
