Although reports originally said that reshoots for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" have begun this month on Skellig Michael island off the southern coast of Ireland, Entertainment Weekly confirms that in actuality, filming has begun for the next installment in the series, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" directed by Rian Johnson.

The confusion apparently stems from LucasFilm's attempts to remain low-key about the filming and using simply "Star Wars" as the working title without differentiating between the films. Plus, reshoots are rather common place these days for major blockbusters so the mix-up makes sense.

That said, it seems the gears are definitely already in motion for the next "Star Wars" installment, and whatever Skellig Michael island was used for in "The Force Awakens" may very serve as a plot point to appear again in "Episode VIII."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" arrives in theaters December 18, 2015, while "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is set for a 2017 release.
