Daisy Ridley has revealed the fate of her lightsaber -- the one previously owned by Luke Skywalker, who inherited it from his father Anakin.
At the Star Wars Celebration Episode IX panel, host Stephen Colbert asked Ridley about the fate of her lightsaber following the events of the prior film. "Well, my answer is not the end of the story... but the lightsaber that Rey inherited from Luke lives," she said in response.
In The Last Jedi, Rey and Kylo Ren fought over the lightsaber, pulling on it with their force powers and eventually splitting it down the middle.
However, Ridley's comments confirm the lightsaber exists in some capacity. It's unknown if she reassembled the lightsaber, re-purposed it or is just keeping it as a souvenir. What is clear, however, is fans will have to look forward to the upcoming ninth film in the franchise to see where the weapon ends up and what its ultimate fate turns out to be.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E.
