Ever since the prequel trilogy kicked off in 1999 with The Phantom Menace, fans have been putting a lot of stock into the subtitles of the episodic Star Wars films. Not only that but they've also turned the reveal of said titles into a cause for celebration -- or outrage -- and now, the moment of truth may have finally arrived for Star Wars: Episode IX.
This potential revelation comes just one day after franchise veteran and C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels teased that "something amazing" was coming and encouraged fans to "Stay tuned." However, it's highly unlikely he was referring to a Reddit leak, so fans should certainly take this news with a grain of salt until it's either confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm.
Nevertheless, with Star Wars Celebration Chicago right around the corner, an official title reveal -- along with a first trailer -- are likely just as close to arriving in a galaxy not so far, far away.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film is scheduled to open on Dec. 20.
