Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may also give rise to a romance, if a new rumor proves true.

Unnamed sources tell MakingStarWars.net that the movie will feature a romantic relationship between John Boyega's Finn and Kelly Marie Tran's Rose, though it's not clear exactly what their relationship status is during the film. According to the article, "It isn’t clear if they’re an item or working on making it work against the backdrop of intergalactic warfare. But I was told Finn has 'something to fight for.'"

The rumor makes sense with the natural progression of their dynamic. Finn first met Rose after he attempted to run away from the Resistance, and the two spent the vast majority of The Last Jedi together. They bond over their shared knowledge of ships and weaponry, and Rose brings Finn out of his comfort zone during their mission on Canto Bight. Later in the film, Rose stops Finn from sacrificing himself, and the two then kiss before she gets taken away for medical attention.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E.
