Star Wars fans will have to wait a little longer to play the remastered Star Wars: Episode I: Racer if they own a PlayStation 4. Aspyr Media, the developer behind the remastered Racer, announced that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will be delayed to May 26.

Aspyr confirmed that the game would still meet its target date of May 12 for the Nintendo Switch in a post to its Twitter account.

The company is co-developing the Episode I: Racer game with Lucasfilm, and featured several updates for the remastered version. Among these updates are modernized controls, split-screen capability and LAN multiplayer capability for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo released the original Star Wars Episode I: Racer game for the N64 in May 1999 to tie in with Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Players could choose between 25 podracers, including Anakin Skywalker -- the future Darth Vader -- and fly through eight different planets in the Star Wars universe. Players could also use the environment to their advantage, as there were several shortcuts and upgrades available throughout each level.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer was a hit with fans and gamers alike, particularly in the arcade circuit. While there has been no official reason as to why the PlayStation 4 version of the game was delayed, fans will only have to wait two weeks before playing.
