Star Wars Eclipse's troubled development not have been as bad as originally thought.

As reported by Bespin Bulletin, reputable video game industry insider AccountNGT tweeted out that Quantic Dream's upcoming game set in the galaxy far, far away is progressing better than rumors suggested. Despite reports that the studio was struggling to hire new employees following a high-profile sexual harassment lawsuit, the leaker indicated that production has largely been unaffected. "SW Eclipse would be the next big game that QD would release tho. Apparently the development is going better than some would have you believe," wrote AccountNGT, who also said that the team is looking at a 2025 release window. After the tweet was published, the video game leaker seemingly deleted the account.

Despite still being in the early stages of development, Star Wars Eclipse has already experienced trouble in its production cycle. Following the aforementioned lawsuit, gamers began the #BlackOutStarWarsEclipse trend across social media to protest the hostile work environment allegedly fostered by Quantic Dream. Notable leaker Tom Henderson stated that Eclipse was only aiming to launch in 2026-2027 despite being in active development for around 18 months. The project reportedly started life as an MMO before being repurposed into as a narrative-driven third-person action-adventure game.

Star Wars Eclipse is set roughly 200 years before the events of the Prequel Trilogy and will largely focus on the High Republic era. While the game's teaser trailer featured elements that may be familiar to some fans, including the Trade Federation's ships and a young Yoda in the Jedi Council chambers, fans can expect a wholly new adventure. "See the galaxy through the eyes of an ensemble cast of multiple, charismatic playable characters, each with their own morality, personality, motivations and impact upon each other and the story at large..." reads the official description.

Star Wars Eclipse will reportedly rely heavily on a branching narrative that will encourage players to make choices that will shape the story. This will undoubtedly sound familiar to gamers who have played any of Quantic Dream's previous games, all of which rely heavily on sprawling, decision-based narrative elements. These include titles such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human.

Star Wars Eclipse does not yet have a release date and fans suspect that it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
