Despite earlier reports to the contrary, Doctor Who star Matt Smith insists that he has not been cast in Star Wars: Episode IX.

On a brief break from filming Sony's Morbius solo film, Smith refuted reports that had arisen this past August that he had been cast for an undisclosed role in the upcoming Star Wars sequel.

"As far as I can tell, I’m definitely not [in it]," Smith claimed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

While similarly refusing to disclose his role in Morbius, Smith did reveal that his former Doctor Who co-star Karen Gillan, who portrays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, convinced him to take the part in the Sony film.
