Doctor Aphra first debuted in the Star Wars universe in the comic Star Wars: Darth Vader #3 in March 2015. Since then, she has cemented herself as a fan-favorite character. Her first solo series launched in December 2016 and ended in December 2019. She has also been the subject of several toys and appeared in the video game, Star Wars: Force Arena.
