In the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark has often found himself in many situations where his suit and psyche have been shattered, forcing him to rebuild himself. This resistance was displayed when he got thrown through time into the prehistoric era in Avengers, and it created one of Tony Stark's defining moments in the MCU as he forged his first armor in the middle of a cave with scraps of older technology in 2008's Iron Man.

And now, Anakin Skywalker has captured the spirit of that moment in Star Wars: Darth Vader #7, where the Sith Lord gets to recreate this moment with a slight twist as he has to fend off Ochi of Bestoon.

Palpatine punished his protege for inquiring about Padme's past and letting her cult escape, thinking this is Anakin's humanity returning. He choked Vader, broke his limbs off bar his right hand, and left him burning on the volcanic planet, warning him not to use the Force to rebuild himself. The Emperor wants to see the primitive survivalist in Vader emerge, someone worthy of being his apprentice, which leaves Vader dragging his smoldering robotic body back to the control room.

It's the same room where he slaughtered Nute Gunray's entourage in Revenge of the Sith, and exasperated, gasping for air, Vader decides to pull a Hail Mary by reprogramming a mobile ground droid. Here, he shows the skills he displayed as a kid fixing pod racers on Tatooine. Vader now commands the droid to bring him legs and arms, eventually reprogramming others to weld the parts onto him. However, he does break the rules as he uses the Force to help with the reassembly which is why Ochi wants his head.

However, Vader's come too far to lose, which once more reminds us how Tony tricked his captors, breaking the rules and then using the suit for himself. He'd blow his way out the cave and back to society, which is what Vader now does as a kind of Sith Iron Man with a lightsaber. In his case, he's smartly and perfectly fused the droid limbs, and what surprises Ochi is these are lava-proof parts.

This allows the former Jedi to battle him, using the lava pools to his advantage as he walks through, which nullifies Ochi having the high ground which, of course, was Ani's downfall and allowed Obi-Wan Kenobi to beat him. So like Stark, Vader's thought of all the angles and in a close-knit battle, he wins. He doesn't care for the rules again, as he uses the Force in the brawl to remind Ochi and Palpatine, he's as resilient and unbreakable as ever.
