The Star Wars galaxy is filled with powerful Force users, many of whom use their gifts for evil purposes. Usually, the Jedi stand in their way, But during the Age of the Empire, the number of trained Jedi could be counted on one hand.

However, that doesn't mean the people not connected to the Force are helpless, and Star Wars: Shadow of Vader's Castle has revealed that some are capable of fighting back with some truly bizarre, yet deadly science. In fact, what one Imperial scientist tried to take on Darth Vader with an invention that essentially made people Hulk out and transform into Gamorreans.

While two young Mustafarians were trying to destroy Vader's castle following his death, they stumbled upon a prisoner who recounted the tale of this mad scientist to prove Vader's invincibility. Taking place shortly after the destruction of the first Death Star, Darth Vader arrived at a remote lab owned by Doctor Restin, an Imperial scientist. Restin had been working on a secret project that Vader hoped would help destroy the Rebel Alliance. But when the Sith Lord arrived at Restin's research station, he found the old man and several droids restraining the only other human on site. This was Restin's assistan,t whom Restin did not trust for allegedly trying to steal his research.

Rather than waste a life, however, Restin decided to use his former assistant to demonstrate the effectiveness of his experiment. Restin had created a genetic serum that could be activated by sound frequencies and, in this case, a Gamorrean's squeal. After injecting the assistant and generating the correct noise, the poor man transformed into a mindless Gamorrean. Vader saw the potential of this experiment, a way to turn Rebels into sleepers to destroy their cells. While Restin agreed that the military purposes were vast, he had a more specific purpose for the serum in mind: Killing Vader. Restin unleashed the newly made Gamorrean on the Dark Lord, explaining that he blames Vader for Alderaan's destruction, where his family was located before the Death Star wiped it all away.

Stormtroopers tried to take the beast down, but Restin revealed that contact with the sweat of the Gamorrean triggers a similar transformation in others, and the Stormtroopers turned into Gamorreans as well. With no guards between him and them anymore, Vader wasted no time using the Force to lift the Gamorreans. He did the same to Restin, explaining that Restin's assistant had informed Vader of the mad scientist's plans and he only came here to make sure Restin was destroyed. But rather than kill him, Vader forced Restin to make contact with the Gamorreans, turning him into a snarling green beast as well.

The similarities between the Gamorrean transformation and Hulking out are too similar to ignore. The physical mass of the body expands as clothes and armor fall away due to the increased girth. Also, of course, Gamorreans have naturally green skin, so that is yet another parallel. Aside from the increased strength, once transformed, the Gamorreans have little to no control over their actions, not being able to differentiate between friend or foe. They become massive green beasts of rage with no concern for who or what gets in their way.

The only significant difference between these Gamorreans and the Hulk is that the Hulk is far stronger. While he may not have been able to get out of Vader's telekinetic grip, he still far outclasses any Gamorrean. And unlike the Hulk, the transformed Gamorreans can multiply rapidly, making them more akin to a disease than a weapon.

While they might not be as gamma-irradiated as the Hulk, these were-Gammorreans still gave Star Wars Universe its own kind of green rage monsters.
