Star Wars veteran Daisy Ridley recently confirmed she's open to returning in future installments of the long-running sci-fi franchise.

Ridley expressed interest in reprising the Rey Skywalker role in an interview with IMDb. "I mean, I'm open to a phone call," she said. "I'm looking for employment!" The English actor portrayed Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which collectively make up the Star Wars sequel trilogy. She also voiced Rey in the animated web series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, and video games Star Wars: Battlefront II, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Disney Infinity 3.0. Ridley is not currently attached to any further Star Wars projects at this stage, however.

That said, there is certainly scope for the actor to return to a galaxy far, far away again soon. Lost co-creator and Watchmen showrunner Damon Lindelof is reportedly working on a new Star Wars movie, which is reportedly set after the events of the sequel trilogy. This leaves the door open for Rey's return, although sources say that Lindelof's as-yet-unnamed Star Wars project is not a direct continuation of the franchise's core "Skywalker saga" narrative. Lindelof is apparently considering including characters from the sequel trilogy in the film in some capacity, however.

Lucasfilm also has several other Star Wars movies in the pipeline that could conceivably feature Rey. This includes Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy's untitled project, about which little is currently known. Levy insisted he'll see the movie through to fruition in a recent interview, after being reminded that many Star Wars productions ultimately fail to materialize. "I don't attach to things because it looks good in a trade announcement," he said. "I attach to things that I intend to make. And you better believe I'm not going to squander this juiciest of opportunities."

Then there's The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson's long-gestating Star Wars trilogy, which represents yet another potential franchise re-entry point for Ridley. Johnson maintains that this project is still happening, despite little visible momentum since it was announced in 2017. "I’ve stayed close to [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen [Kennedy] and we get together often and talk about it," Johnson said in August 2022. "It’s just at this point a matter of schedule and when it can happen. It would break my heart if I were finished, if I couldn’t get back in that sandbox at some point."

All three installments in the Star Wars sequel trilogy are currently streaming on Disney+.
