Though Star Wars: The Clone Wars has ended its seven-season run, fans will have a chance to revisit that era thanks to Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Tales of Light and Dark, which features various Clone Wars episodes retold from the perspective of other characters.

StarWars.com has released an excerpt from "Dark Vengeance" by author Rebecca Roanhorse that tells the story of Darth Maul's resurrection and his eventual battle against his enemy Obi-Wan Kenobi. Notably, the excerpt is narrated by Maul's Clone Wars voice actor Sam Witwer.

Originally thought to be dead after the events of The Phantom Menace, Maul returned in the Clone Wars episode "Brothers" when his brother Savage Oppress (Clancy Brown) found him on a desolate planet, barely alive and clinging on to his hatred of Kenobi. Witwer would reprise the role for Star Wars Rebels and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Other Clone Wars cast members will lend their voices to the book, including Corey Burton (Cad Bane and Count Dooku), Nika Futterman (Asajj Ventress), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Catherine Taber (Padmé Amidala) and James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars-Tales of Light and Dark is currently available to pre-order. The book goes on sale Aug. 25.
