The Star Wars saga is sometimes referred to as a "new mythology" or, more often, simply a modern classic. However, one artist has taken his praise for the franchise even further, reimagining some of its best-known characters as classic Greek sculptures.

All right, they're not actually sculptures. In a blend of the contemporary and the ancient, French artist Travis Durden creates portraits using photographs of statues from the Louvre and heads of Star Wars figures he commissions from a 3D modeler. Once he's finished, it's virtually impossible to tell they're not sculptures you might find lining a promenade on Naboo.

OK, maybe not Naboo. What would they want with statues of Darth Vader, Boba Fett, General Grievous and a Stormtrooper? How about displayed in a trophy room in Jabba the Hutt's palace, next to where he keeps the carbonite-encased bodies of smugglers who owe him money?
