Over the course of eleven films and four television series, Star Wars has had highs and lows. It also has moments where a character does something that makes the audience go "Whoa, too far!" Sometimes, even other characters stop to acknowledge the nature of what just happened.

The script had moments where evil characters did evil things. However, these are the moments where it becomes stunning what extent a character, hero or villain, went to during the course of the story. Not all of them involve killing, either, some are less significant but still worthy of a stereotypical record scratch sound effect.

10 Luke Called Out The Pilot That Said The Death Star Shot Was Impossible

Luke calls out rebel pilot

During the briefing on the Death Star attack plans, the X-Wing pilots are told the exhaust port is just two meters square. One pilot speaks up, dubious that even the targeting computers could hit so small a target. Luke instantly corrects him, telling how he used to hit womp rats back on Tattooine, creatures not much bigger than the exhaust port.

It's been pointed out that Luke is a little out of line in challenging this pilot's assertion. In Family Guyit was highlighted as the pilot pulled Luke aside and told him that it was rude. As an aside, that pilot was supposed to be Wedge Antilles, but the actor playing Wedge was replaced during filming.

9 Stormtroopers Slaughtered Jawas

Slaughtered Jawas

In A New Hope, several Stormtroopers are sent searching for the droids with the Death Star plans. Apparently, the trail led to the Jawas that captured C-3PO and R2-D2. This eventually led the Stormtroopers to Luke's home where they killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

The Stormtroopers also covered up the attack, making it look like Sandpeople attacked the Jawas. What they've done here is commit a war crime by killing innocents and framing a minority group for the crime. The killing of Luke's family is also bad, but there was little effort made to conceal who killed these farmers.

8 Krennic Kills Orso's Scientists

Doomed Scientists

In Rogue One, Director Krennic sets out to discover who among Galen Orso's scientists has defected to the rebellion. When no one volunteers as the traitor he demands that his stormtroopers kill them all. Galen Orso then admits to being the traitor, but Krennic isn't satisfied. He orders his troopers to kill all of the scientists anyway.

By having innocent scientists gunned down, Krennic cements his status as the desperate villain of the story. Had the rebels not attacked the facility at that moment, Krennic might have been able to leverage the discovery of Galen Orso's betrayal to his advantage. Unfortunately, it sets into motion suspicion that the Empire has something to hide, something the size of a small moon.

7 Poe Dameron Leads A Mutiny

Star Wars Rebel Alliance from the sequel trilogy

In The Last Jedi, Poe Dameron sees his status as a hero of the resistance put into question. After leading an ill-conceived bombing attack on the First Order, he becomes frustrated with Resistance leadership. With Leia incapacitated, Commander Holdo apparently has no plan to save the resistance, much less strike back at the First Order.

He gathers up a small force for a mutiny. Of course, Holdo has a plan to save the Resistance, but she hasn't clued Poe in on it, because she's operating on a need-to-know basis. Given that they're being pursued by the First Order, even in Hyperspace, she's kept her plan secret from the person who has most damaged their cause, albeit with bad decisions and not treachery.

6 Saw Gerrera Tortured Bodhi Took Just To Determine If He Was Telling me Truth

Saw Gerrera torured Bohdi

In Rogue One, Imperial shuttle pilot Bohdi Rook delivered the message that there was an intentional weak spot placed in the Death Star to Rebel leader Saw Gerrera. Gerrera was distrustful of anything coming from an Imperial. While realizing the importance of the message, he needed to verify that Bohdi was telling the truth.

To determine if Bohdi was not luring the rebellion into a trap, Gerrera subjected the pilot to a creature named Bor Gullet. A semi-sentient creature, she burrowed into Bohdi's mind, ferreting out the truth, but doing so in a way describable only as torture. Although he eventually recovered, Bohdi was temporarily left insane from the experience.

5 Mace Windu went for a killing strike on Palpatine

Macu Windu, Anakin, and Palpatine fighting

When Mace Windu faced off against Palpatine, it culminated with the Sith Lord's lightning back on Palpatine. This allowed Windu to do what led three other Jedi to their deaths. He could arrest the Supreme Chancellor and expose the manipulation behind the Clone Wars.

With Anakin's arrival, Windu let his emotions get the better of him. He pivots on the plan to arrest Palpatine and goes to kill the apparently helpless opponent. This decision led to Anakin's complete turn to the dark side.

4 Luke Tried To Kill Ben Solo In His Sleep

Luke was gonna-kill his nephew

One of the most egregious elements of Luke Skywalker's backstory in The Last Jedi was the revelation that Luke Skywalker tried to kill his nephew. He had sensed Snoke's influence on Ben Solo. Knowing that Ben Solo was well on his way to becoming Kylo Ren, he opted to kill his pupil before he became too strong with the Dark Side of the Force.

Of course, there may have been a moment where Luke came to his wits and decided not to kill Ben. Unfortunately, Ben Solo reacted instinctively upon waking up and saw the betrayal of the Jedi. By giving in to the desire to spare his nephew from corruption, he only insured the fall of Ben Solo.

3 Anakin Wiped Out A Sandpeople Village

Anakin killed sand people

When Anakin goes to rescue his mother from the Sandpeople in Attack of the Clones, it's the beginning of his transformation into Darth Vader. Giving in to his anger, all of the subtlety he used was sacrificed for revenge.

Even more appalling was his confession to Padmé later that he not only killed the men of the village but the women and children, too. It's the first time fans are shown Anakin's rage. This is the first sign of Darth Vader in the prequels.

2 Grand Moff Tarkin Ordered The Destruction Of Alderaan

Tarkin destroys Alderaan

When Princess Leia resisted all attempts of interrogation, Grand Moff Tarkin resorted to the ultimate bargaining chip. He threatened to use the power of the Death Star on her home planet of Alderaan. It seemed to work as she gave up the location of the hidden rebel base.

Tarkin then ordered Alderaan's destruction. The purpose was just to demonstrate that the Empire could wipe out any planet that resisted the Empire or aided the rebellion. Unfortunately for Tarkin, the ploy only worked as a demonstration of Imperial power, as Leia gave him a false location for the Rebel base.

1 Anakin Killed Children, Again

Anakin kills children

With the implementation of Order 66, Darth Sidious ordered his new apprentice to build his power in the Dark Side by leading troopers into the Jedi Temple. Anakin marches in and proceeds to massacre everyone in the temple. Most terrifying is the moment when Jedi younglings, hiding from the violence ask Anakin for advice. Then the new Sith Lord ignites his lightsaber.

While not clearly shown, it is implied that Anakin simply murdered every one of those children. The security footage drives Yoda and Obi-Wan to despair that Anakin is forever lost to them. Truly, it is a step too far for a former hero, cementing his fall.
