Star Wars Celebration is a fan-centric event that launched in 1999 in an effort to help promote Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Since its inception, the event has become a highlight for fans, with the convention going on to include panels with Star Wars casts and crew, exclusive screenings, signing events and sneak peeks at upcoming projects within the franchise.

The most recent Star Wars Celebration was held in April 2017 in Orlando to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original 1977 Star Wars film, A New Hope, and promote The Last Jedi, along with the final season of Star Wars Rebels. The event also included a tribute to the late Carrie Fisher and marked Harrison Ford's first appearance at the convention, despite his veteran status in the franchise.
