For nearly 45 years, Anthony Daniels has returned time and again as C-3PO in countless Star Wars features. Now he's working on a brand new project for Lucasfilm.

Daniels posted a photo of himself dressed in a motion capture suit, revealing through hashtags that he's at Ealing Studios in West London. "Finally, a new suit - that fits!," Daniels wrote, a nod to difficulties he faced wearing C-3PO's costume during the original Star Wars' production.

While Daniels didn't specify which Star Wars project he's mo-capping for, Lucasfilm Animation and Industrial Light & Magic are currently working on an upcoming animated movie titled Star Wars: A Droids Story. Announced in 2020 for Disney+, A Droids Story will center on an unknown character "guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO," highly implying that Daniels will reprise his role again. The film's release date is currently unknown.

Along with his counterpart R2-D2, C-3PO is the only Star Wars character to appear in all nine mainline films since the original's 1977 release. Daniels has played Threepio in each movie, as well as cameoing as the protocol droid in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars and 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Furthermore, he's regularly voiced C-3PO in animation, beginning with an animated segment of The Star Wars Holiday Special and later the 1980s cartoon Star Wars: Droids, 2003's Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series, Star Wars: The Clone WarsStar Wars Rebels and Star Wars Resistance, amongst many others.

Disney's current Star Wars project, The Book of Boba Fett, follows the titular bounty hunter and his ally Fennec Shand in Fett's attempt to rule over Tatooine as a new crime boss. The Mandalorian spinoff dropped after two animated series released to Disney+ in 2021: The Bad Batch, which follows a team of enhanced clones-turned-fugitives, and Star Wars Visions, an anthology series about multiple original Star Wars narratives created by seven Japanese anime studios.

In addition to the movies, game developer Respawn Entertainment announced that three new Star Wars video games are in development. These include a follow-up to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, an unknown shooter and a real-time strategy game, the latter being developed by studio Bit Reactor.
