The bounty hunters of the Star Wars universe are heading to their own Marvel Comic series starting in March of 2020.

Marvel and Star Wars announced today that a new series from writer Ethan Sacks and artist Paolo Villanelli will dive into the darkest corners of the galaxy far, far away and explore the seedy world of bounty hunters. Leading the series will be Beilert Valance, and the first two covers tease the involvement of fan-favorites Boba Fett and Bossk.

Sacks spoke with StarWars.com about how excited he is to tackle the story, as he's been a fan of the various bounty hunters of the franchise since seeing them in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. "I’m channeling that wonder from The Empire Strikes Back and beyond in Bounty Hunters, which will be a high-octane action romp through the Star Wars underworld of Hutts and Fetts," said Sacks.

Along with the covers for the first two issues, the synopsis for the series was released and hints at Valance's motivations in the new book:

The series follows cyborg bounty hunter Beilert Valance as he seeks revenge on mentor-turned-betrayer Nakano Lash, who has recently resurfaced under mysterious circumstances. But Valance isn’t the only mercenary looking for Lash, and he soon finds himself on a collision course with Boba Fett, Bossk, and a slew of new killers.

Sacks himself echoed the logline for the series and teased what readers can expect, saying, “We’ll get to see this world through the cybernetic eye of Valance, a bounty hunter with a rich history of his own at Marvel, and one of the few that can go toe to toe with the likes of Bossk. And rest assured that he’s going to have to be doing a lot of fighting as his jobs take him to some pretty dark places in both the Outer Rim and in his inner heart.”

The launch of the series comes as The Mandalorian has become a huge hit for Disney+, offering a look at the Star Wars universe following the fall of the Empire and digging deeper into the ever-popular Mandalorian culture. With the new comic series, Marvel and Lucasfilm are clearly aware that bounty hunters both old and new are sure to be a hit with fans.
