The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #29, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Something the Star Wars galaxy has no shortage of is bounty hunters. One of the most interesting aspects of Star Wars is its diverse collection of bounty-hunting characters, many of which often end up on the top of fan favorites lists. Over the years, arguably the most popular one has been Boba Fett. However, one of his fellow hunters is now stepping up and could turn out to be just as, if not more, formidable than Boba.

Boba’s reputation as being the most ruthless and feared of all bounty hunters is something he prides himself on. But in Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #29 (by Ethan Sacks, Paolo Villanelli, Arif Prianto, and VC’s Travis Lanham) one character is proving that there’s more to being an effective bounty hunter than jetpacks and blasters. As two opposing teams of hunters converge on their target, Bossk shows that he has what it takes to be counted among the best.

The Star Wars Bounty Hunter Bossk has a Number of Impressive Skills

Bossk, Tasu Leech, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM from Star Wars

As part of Qi’ra’s Crimson Dawn mercenaries, Bossk has been teamed up with some of the most familiar Star Wars bounty hunters. Most notable are Zuckuss and 4-LOM, who are extremely deadly in their own right. But where most bounty hunters and assassins rely on their trademark weaponry, at his core, Bossk is a brawler. When push comes to shove, Bossk usually ends up shoving the hardest.

However, Tanka (a much stronger Trandoshan and member of the rival team sent by the Empire) interrupts their current mission. He immediately takes out Bossk’s partner, Tasu Leech, and attacks Bossk. But this time, knowing Tanka is stronger and could overpower him, Bossk relies on his speed and agility. This is a characteristic not usually seen in bounty hunters. Normally, the job calls for the threat to be neutralized, but the basis of this one is stealth – something Bossk is a master of when he wants to be.

Bossk Embodies the Best Attributes of His Fellow Bounty Hunters

With all his weaponry and armor, Boba Fett has bested Bossk in the past. But there aren’t many people in the galaxy that can beat the Trandoshan in hand-to-hand combat. Bossk's fellow hunters Zuckuss and 4-LOM are similar to each other in their modus operandi as master tacticians and weapons experts. But they are arguably the weakest when it comes to physical strength. Though IG-88, another of Bossk’s fellow hunters, is an imposing force, his plan is to almost always outgun his opponent, leaving stealth and tactics by the wayside.

Despite Bossk not wearing much in the way of protective armor (in fact, he doesn’t even have shoes), he does have the advantage of his Trandoshan durability. He’s fast-moving and quick thinking, and despite his trademark Relby-v10 micro grenade launcher, Bossk often relies on tactics and his honed fighting skills over firepower. There aren’t many in the galaxy that would willingly go toe-to-toe with Bossk.
