The red carpet premiere for Star Wars and Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett has been postponed due to COVID-19.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we will be postponing the Boba Fett fan event," Disney+ said in a statement obtained by Variety. "It will be relocated to the 8th of February in celebration of the finale." That event was scheduled to take place on Jan. 4, 2022 (several days after the show's Dec. 29 Disney+ debut), with executive producers Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Book of Boba Fett star Ming-Na Wen all expected to attend.

The Book of Boba Fett centers on Boba Fett and Fennec Shand as they assume control of the late Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire on Tatooine. The show was announced by way of a stinger in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, where Fett was effectively resurrected after seemingly dying in 1983's Return of the Jedi.

Though it's been described as a seven-episode limited series, Rodriguez recently suggested a second season of The Book of Boba Fett isn't outside the galaxy of possibilities. "If people really love it, I'm sure they'd want to make more," he said.

The trailers for The Book of Boba Fett have been vague thus far, and that's by design as they're all from the first episode. Actor Temuera Morrison recently shed some more light on what fans can expect, such as important Star Wars gaps finally being filled. "There will definitely be a number of answers," he explained. "Some long-winded answers. Some short and sharp answers. Some colorful answers. We're filling a lot of gaps."

Wen also assured fans that, although Fett's honor has been played up significantly since he's been back, the character is still an antihero. "[Fett and Shand are] bonded by the fact that they both lived through a near-death experience," she said. "And there is a sense of code that they both abide by. So it's going to be really interesting to see how their dynamics grow in The Book of Boba Fett. I think that's all I can say. The rest is... you have to watch. We are the anti-hero. I like playing an anti-hero. You get away with more, I think."

The Book of Boba Fett premieres Dec. 29 on Disney+.
