The Book of Boba Fett star Ming-Na Wen says fans read too much into her referring to the series' first block of episodes as Season 1.

In earlier social media posts promoting the Disney+ series, Wen used terms like "Season 1" innocuously -- or so she thought. Fans picked up on the verbiage and soon began speculating on whether the actor had let slip that a second season of The Book of Boba Fett was indeed on the way. Wen clarified her comments, saying fans "jumped to conclusions" and she didn't mean to imply Disney had ordered a second season. She did add, however, that she has high hopes for the series' continuation, writing, "I'm keeping my fingers crossed!"

Wen plays a significant role in The Book of Boba Fett as Fennec Shand, ally and right-hand woman of Boba Fett. Fennec first appeared in Season 1 of The Mandalorian as a fierce and skilled assassin being hunted down by Din Djarin and Toro Calican. She was shot and left for dead, but her body was later discovered by Boba Fett. Season 2 revealed that Boba saved her life, resulting in a partnership between the two that endures throughout The Book of Boba Fett.

Robert Rodriguez, director and producer on The Book of Boba Fett, previously commented on a potential second season for the show. "If people really love it, I'm sure they'd want to make more," he said. However, The Book of Boba Fett has received a mixed response overall, with a 72% critics' approval rating and a 61% audience score. For comparison, The Mandalorian Season 2 sits at 94% among critics and 90% among viewers. Interestingly, two of The Book of Boba Fett's most well-received episodes (Chapters 5 and 6) took the focus almost entirely off Boba Fett and into a detour involving Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker.

Regardless of The Book of Boba Fett's future, Disney and Lucasfilm are hard at work on several other Star Wars series. Andor is slated for a late 2022 release, along with The Mandalorian Season 3. Ahsoka is set to begin filming in April, while mystery thriller The Acolyte and a Lando Calrissian-centered series are also in the works. A May premiere date for one of Star Wars' most anticipated shows, Obi-Wan Kenobi, was recently announced as well.

All episodes of The Book of Boba Fett are available to stream on Disney+, as well as Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian.
