The Book of Boba Fett will go deep into the bounty hunter's backstory, finally answering some key questions.

"There will definitely be a number of answers," Temuera Morrison told SFX magazine. "Some long-winded answers. Some short and sharp answers. Some colorful answers. We're filling a lot of gaps."

While Boba Fett's history was fleshed out in Extended Universe stories, most of those events were removed from canon when Disney bought Lucasfilm. But The Clone Wars helped to fill in a bit of Boba's youth during the titular conflict. That still leaves a lot of time before the bounty hunter crossed paths with Han Solo and seemingly met his end -- not to mention what's happened since that fateful day.

"In The Book Of Boba Fett, there will be a lot of exploration of the dynamics between Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, how they complement each other, and what they get out of that relationship," Ming-Na Wen said. "He's someone she respects and they have definitely bonded with him saving her. It allowed her to realize that she might be better off not being solo anymore. She sees her alliance with Boba Fett as a very smart move, in the sense that she'll have somebody watching her back. And even though it might be [some] extra baggage to have to align herself with someone else, the reward for her at the moment is greater."

Fennec is much newer to the scene, having debuted on The Mandalorian before appearing on The Bad Batch (which is set before the Disney+ shows and the Original Trilogy). Still, her story and her bond with Boba will likely be explored more on The Book of Boba Fett.

Of course, the biggest question fans want answered is how Boba survived the sarlacc pit from Return of the Jedi -- and what was he doing in the five years between the film's end and his arrival on The Mandalorian?

"Boba died – or we thought he did – in the sarlacc pit, so I think that both of them share those near-death experiences in common," Wen continued, referencing her near-fatal blaster wound in Season 1 of The Mandalorian and Boba's subsequent saving of her life. "They both have a vulnerability that they understand."

The Book of Boba Fett premieres Dec. 29 on Disney+.
