The library of Star Wars games spans multiple generations of gaming. In 2019, Syfy Wire reported there were more than 140 unique games that carry the Star Wars name, ranging across practically every genre imaginable.

With so many different titles that take players to that galaxy far, far away (including recent DLC for Minecraft)Star Wars has become a juggernaut in gaming, and it can be hard to find the best games out there. These five may not be everybody's favorites, but they're clearly some of the best of the franchise.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is considered by many fans to be one of the best Star Wars games and one of the best Lego games ever released. The Complete Saga served as a combination of the first two games in the Lego Star Wars series with graphical upgrades that benefited the game's PS3 and Xbox 360 release and was one of the first to lock down the now popular format of the Lego titles. The Lego format has a new Star Wars title on the way and was recently used for a holiday special.

With the first six Star Wars movies available as levels, there are plenty of iconic locations to visit and destroy in pursuit of studs. Said studs could then be exchanged to purchase characters from the game's huge roster, ranging from Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker to Gonk Droids and Indiana Jones. With a huge array of secrets, bonus game modes, characters and collectibles, The Complete Saga is stuffed to the brim with content.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

star wars jedi academy

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi  Academy emphasizes making lightsaber combat feel fun in the Quake III engine. The game does a lot of what Force Unleashed would do down the road, letting players get the feel of hacking down Stormtroopers as a Jedi. The game has a solid storyline and mission designs, though that's not why many fans play the game today. Jedi Academy has seen a second life of sorts through its modding community.

With the community modding in characters from all across the Star Wars universe through mods such as "Moviebattles II," Jedi Academy's appeal in recent years is simulating duels. Modding addresses many of the issues with the original game, such as the AI. The game also still has a thriving multiplayer where players can engage in some truly impressive lightsaber combat.

Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)

There was no question at launch that EA's 2017 Star Wars Battlefront II was greatly outclassed by the original. While the original might offer a better experience, there's no denying that Battlefront II has gone a long way in its post-launch updates. One of the biggest draws of EA's Battlefront games were the graphics, which were one of the few things that always received praise from critics.

Beyond the graphics, however, Battlefront II provides players with a wide range of game modes that do a wonderful job bringing the world of Star Wars to modern FPS games. The game's co-op modes are the highlight, as fighting off waves upon waves of AI-controlled enemies and heroes with friends is an incredibly tense and fun experience. The game also offers tons of great content for Star Wars fans, with tons of unique skins for units and heroes.

Star Wars Battlefront II (2005)

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Pandemic Ki Adi Mundi Fighting

Even with how fun EA's Battlefront II ended up being, there's no denying that Pandemic Studio's 2005 original is a much more enjoyable title. With intense space battles and a hugely impressive 100 unit mode for land battles, Pandemic Studios really captured the scale of battles in the Star Wars universe. There isn't much more to say about this nostalgic title, other than that the game is still available on Steam with fully functional multiplayer severs.

Knights of the Old Republic

Knights of the Old Republic is often called one of the best Star Wars games of all time. Not only that, but many consider it to be one of the best RPGs of all time. BioWare did what they do best and brought the Star Wars universe to life with fantastic writing and storytelling. The game is often cited as one of the best stories ever told in the Star Wars Extended Universe canon.

The RPG mechanics in KOTOR is often a source of praise for both their depth and their accessibility.  The game is built off of a d20 role-play system with influences from Dungeons & Dragons. There's a lot that KOTOR does right to cement its legacy as one of, if not the best Star Wars game of all time. The best way to sum up its impact is to say that to this day, despite Disney eradicating the Extended Universe, the lore that KOTOR  built is still used in modern Star Wars media.
