Although BB units seem to be overtaking the R2-series as the go-to astromech droid in the galaxy far, far away, viewers only really got to see Poe Dameron's BB-8 during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Poe told Finn that BB-8 is "one of a kind," specifying his orange, silver and white color scheme as a reason for that claim. Now, a leaked image, which surfaced on Reddit, shows that BB-8's design might be unique for more reasons than just his colors.

The photo shows an upcoming Wal-Mart exclusive Funko Pop! figure that teases the look of other BB units in the film. Like BB-8, the new unit sports a soccer ball-like bottom and a head, but that seems to be where the similarities end. The Resistance BB Unit in the image is less colorful than BB-8, and boasts a dark, black-ish look. The top of the dome head is uncovered, which lends the droid a worn look.

Although it could certainly just be the result of Funko's stylization, it does look quite different from the BB-8 Funko Pop! One reason for the difference between the two droids could be that it's a different type of BB unit, as there are a few floating around the Star Wars universe. The Resistance BB Unit also looks different than the First Order's BB-9 unit, which recent merchandise revealed.
