The Pope is coming to a galaxy far, far away.

GameRant reports that, thanks to mod creator xD0IT, Pope John Paul II has entered the battlefield as a playable character in Star Wars: Battlefront II. The character is actually a modified skin for Kylo Ren, complete with his cross-guard lightsaber. xD0IT uploaded a video of the Pope's gameplay to his YouTube channel with hilarious and holy results.

Battlefront II has no shortage of creative mods, with xD0IT posting many other obscure additions to Nexus Mods, and other creators posting fan favorite creations like Nanobuds1220's recent Baby Yoda mod. The game, released in 2017, is still updating regularly. A Rise of Skywalker-themed "Celebration Edition" dropped in December.

Battlefront II is the seventh game in the Battlefront series. The game had a rough start thanks to a loot box scandal, but it has recovered and now serves an active gaming community.

Pope John Paul II oversaw the Catholic Church from 1978 until his death in 2005, becoming the second longest-serving Pope in history.

Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Pope John Paul II is available on Nexus Mods.
