It appears as though Star Wars fans need not dismay, as the upcoming second season of The Bad Batch looks to be sticking to its previously announced Disney+ premiere date.
Early this past June, the Disney+ homepage revealed that Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 would debut on Wednesday, Sept. 28. However, Disney+ recently disclosed its list of upcoming content for the month of September 2022 -- and the second season of The Bad Batch was noticeably absent, leading to concerns that it had been delayed. That said, one of the streaming service's employees has seemingly cleared up any confusion.
A Reddit user has shared a conversation they had with a member of Disney+'s Help Center team. The employee affirmed that The Bad Batch Season 2 is indeed scheduled to premiere on Sept. 28. Another user in the comments pointed out that this date is also still listed on Disney's Australian website. Other users speculate that Disney+ is planning a proper release date announcement for the fast-approaching D23 Expo, which begins Friday, Sept. 9.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Is Returning for Season 2
Spinning out of the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch initially premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2021. Season 1 ran for a total of 16 episodes, concluding on Aug. 13, 2021. Shortly before The Bad Batch's debut season ended, Disney+ officially renewed the show for Season 2. The Bad Batch follows the continued exploits of Clone Force 99, a squad of defective Clone Troopers with "desirable" genetic mutations. The series also partially serves to bridge the gap between The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
The first season of The Bad Batch was predominantly well-received by critics and audiences alike, currently holding a "Certified Fresh" rating of 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. "The Bad Batch's beautifully animated adventure may be too lore heavy for casual viewers, but fans will enjoy diving deeper into this dastardly cast of characters," the critics' consensus reads. Meanwhile, The Bad Batch Season 1 currently holds an audience score of 81 percent.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 is tentatively scheduled to premiere Sept. 28 on Disney+.
