While the series is still getting its feet under it, The Bad Batch has added something great to the modern Star Wars canon. The story of this group of unique Clone troopers escaping Order 66 and trying to figure out what's next has already become quite compelling. A big part of that is the little details hidden throughout it for obsessive fans to find.
Like many Star Wars series, The Bad Batch has more than a few Easter Eggs hiding in plain sight. Some of them are bigger than others but they all add another dimension to the world and the ongoing story.
10 Hunter Looks More Like Rambo Than Ever Before In Episode 4
When the Bad Batch made their first appearance in the final season of The Clone Wars, one member of the team seemed more familiar than the others. And that wasn't just because they're all clones of Jango Fett.
The leader of the team is Hunter, a clone with enhanced senses. He also apparently has the enhanced ability to bear more than a little resemblance to John Rambo. On top of the hair and the red headband, Episode 4 added in a green tunic that completed the look.
9 A Loth-Cat Appears In The Pilot
Dave Filoni is the creative mind behind many of Star Wars' recent successes. That includes The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, and even The Mandalorian. His involvement is a big part of the reason why there are such strong thematic connections and more between these series.
Over the years, Filoni has developed somewhat of a calling card, namely the Loth-Cat. Endemic to the Outer Rim world of Lothal from Rebels, the animal has now made subtle cameos in virtually every Star Wars series he has been involved in.
8 Episode 7 Takes The Story To Bracca
When Captain Rex showed up to help the Bad Batch, he informed them that they needed to get their inhibitor chips removed as soon as possible. He guided the team to Bracca, a scrapper world where old Republic ships were being stripped for parts. They used a medical bay on one of the ships for the procedure.
Bracca itself is an Easter Egg, as are many of the worlds in the series. But Bracca is particularly interesting because it's a key location in the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It's where the story begins as former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis works on the planet while hiding from the Empire.
7 Dejarik Makes Its Return In Episode 10
The groundwork for everything Star Wars fans have today was laid out in the first movie, A New Hope. The story got rolling when two droids ended up on a seemingly random moisture farm on Tatooine. That moment launched everything that came after that.
One of the stranger parts of the movie was a game being played by Chewbacca and R2-D2 called Dejarik. The odd holographic chess game with violent pieces made a return in Episode 10 as Cid and Omega scammed the bar's customers at the game.
6 Episode 3 Finally Explains War Mantle
In 2016, a movie called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released. It told the story of a group of Rebels who gave their lives to steal the plans to the first Death Star from the Empire. This was a unique movie in that it was one of few that wasn't entirely focused on the Skywalker Saga.
When Jyn Erso was looking for the information, she scrolled past several other Imperial projects including one called War Mantle. Episode 3 of The Bad Batch gave fans somewhat of an explanation. War Mantle relates directly to the switchover from Clone Troopers to Stormtroopers.
5 Ahsoka Tano Gets Name Checked In Episode 6
The sixth episode of the series featured the return of two characters from Season 7 of The Clone Wars. Two sisters named Trace and Rafa Martez had met Ahsoka Tano on Coruscant just after she left the Jedi Order. While it wasn't a favorite arc among fans, it had its moments.
At the point they encountered the Bad Batch, the Martez sisters appeared to be working with the fledgling Rebellion. They also mentioned their old friend Ahsoka Tano, someone who also played a big role in the Rebellion and will likely make an appearance on this series.
4 Episode 2 Brought Out The Familiar RGC-16 Speeder
There are some things that make consistent appearances though they do disappear into the background a bit. That has certainly been the case with the RGC-16 Speeder. It's important to keep in mind that there are a lot of speeders in Star Wars, going all the way back to Luke Skywalker's land speeder in the first film.
That being said, the RGC-16 Speeder is a strong connection point between The Bad Batch and The Clone Wars. Versions of it appeared in several episodes of The Clone Wars. It made its return in Episode 2 of The Bad Batch.
3 The Pilot Proves Probe Droids Are Always A Nuisance
The bane of the Rebellion's existence has to be Probe Droids. These floating spies gather intelligence without being spotted and are notoriously difficult to kill. Not so much impossible but definitely problematic. Their first appearance went down in The Empire Strikes Back when one landed on Hoth.
Quite surprisingly, a Probe Droid appeared in the very first episode of the new series. It was there to follow the Bad Batch as they went on their first mission for the newly formed Empire. And as is often the case, the Bad Batch was unable to destroy it before its message went out.
2 Cid's Trophy Room In Episode 5
Some Easter Eggs are bigger than others or include multiple parts. Trophy rooms are a great source for such insights. Grand Admiral Thrawn had a trophy room in Rebels and it was a veritable treasure trove of Easter Eggs for fans to spot.
The same thing happened in Episode 5 of The Bad Batch. They met a Trandoshan named Cid for the first time and talked with her in her office. The walls were adorned with a variety of trophies, including helmets from a Clone Trooper, a Clone Pilot, and a Mandalorian.
1 The Tragedy Of Fives Is Mentioned In Episode 7
Season 6 of The Clone Wars was produced by Netflix and featured a decidedly different tone. One of the main arcs in the season followed a fan-favorite Clone named Fives. He unraveled the entire plot against the Jedi and the Republic but no one would listen to him.
That, unfortunately, included one of his closest friends, Rex. When he arrived to help the Bad Batch in Episode 7, the wounds of the incident with Fives were still fresh. Rex briefly mentioned what happened, lamenting the fact that he didn't listen to his friend sooner.
