Throughout his long life, Count Dooku has been responsible for many things. He betrayed the Jedi Order to Lord Sidious, served as a public figurehead for the Separatist forces during the Clone Wars campaign, and even engineered the accident that would turn General Grievous into a cyborg and twist him against the Republic. His villainy is often underplayed in favor of more well known antagonists (such as Maul or Vader), though many fans adore him nonetheless. They commemorate his brilliant balance of eloquence and evil through breathtaking artwork, reminding us of the genius behind the Sith's long and dastardly career.
10 A Shocking Development
Much like Maul, Dooku was not above grooming his own sith despite the alleged Rule of Two. During Savage Opress's ascension, he was responsible for his training. True to his sith nature, the Count shocked him (metaphorically and literally) as he attempted to concentrate, drawing out his student's hatred for his mentor.
Morkoney depicts one of these exchanges, with Dooku's lightning pulsing through his apprentice's body. Given Opress's uncharacteristically subdued features, it's likely that he is either electrocuted into unconsciousness or simply on the brink of a rampage.
9 Reality Of The Sith
EilservsWs depicts Count Dooku staring forward, his features characteristically indifferent to his surroundings. Insidious energy boils around him, indicating his betrayal of the light and embracing of the dark side of the force.
Ironically, Dooku's visage belies his true feelings. He would not face his death with dignity, instead of simpering before the Emperor, unable to articulate his horror. Were he able (or willing) to expose Palpatine's true identity in retaliation for his deception, the galaxy's fate would have been significantly improved., and it likely would have saved his life.
8 Diabolical Dignity
When examining the character of Count Dooku, it's impossible to divorce it from his elegance, grace, and composure. This is a fact Jake Murray realizes all too well in his stunningly realistic artwork of the Sith, drawn so marvelously it seems pulled directly from the movie.
This piece pronounces the curvature of Dooku's hilt, one thing that distinguishes him even from other sith. For him, it is more pertinent than it assists his saber form than distinguish him from other force users ~ after all, there are only two that use a red crystal at any given time.
7 News From The Front
After Qui-Gonn's death at the hand of Darth Maul, more than the Jedi were influenced. It was a notably convenient victory for Lord Sidious; even though he had lost his apprentice in the fight, Dooku would make a far more useful tool while he continued to groom Anakin.
The Count himself was displeased at Qui-Gon's death since the two had a strong friendship with one another in the Jedi Order. ecoleccionistas illustrates this splendidly, with Dooku poorly attempting to restrain his sadness for the sake of his looming superior. It is evident in his eyes, incurring the question as to whether he could have been redeemed.
6 Light Within Shadows
Mark Maxwell cunningly demonstrates the duality of Dooku's psyche in this artwork of his bust. Two different lights reflect on the left and right sides of his faces, indicative of the paths open to the Count.
With the light to the right whitish-blue and the other a hellish red, the symbolism translates nicely without being too conspicuous. It is poetic when considering that his body is more shrouded in darkness, ultimately reflecting his decision to abandon everything he stood for.
5 A Prudent Parry
Many gentlemen of refinement know how to fight when necessary, and Dooku is no exception. In this dour piece by AdorindiLÂ we find him braced against an unseen opponent, his curved saber readied in defense.
Intriguingly, the darkness around his eyes could emulate one attempt Asajj Ventress and her Nightsisters made on his life, posing as Jedi assassins. He was blind during the entire encounter, nonetheless holding his own against his would-be murderers and ultimately thwarting their attack. He would discover those responsible and send Grievous to enact Separatist justice against them soon after.
4 Rigid Discipline
Unlike the cackling Sidious, bragging Grievous, or quipping Darth Vader, Count Dooku is one of the most serious sith the Jedi have come upon, as shown in this commendable piece by krizok.
Unlike his Clone Wars or Tartakovsky iterations, this Dooku is recreated as authentically as possible in homage to the memory of the late Christopher Lee. Through this unflinchingly awesome piece, we remember one of the most legendary performances to have ever occurred in a galaxy far, far away. Lee's acting has defined the character, providing a template for others to follow.
3 Joining The Battlefront
Dooku exists in more than simply the movies; he has become a cherished character in TV shows, tabletops, and even video games. He was a featured "hero"Â for 2004's Star Wars: Battlefront and again in 2017's Star Wars Battlefront II.Â
S0ROXÂ commemorates this impressive legacy through their artwork, captioning their piece with the specific media they wished to pay homage to. He remains a fan-favorite character to play, both in the original release and in the new one over a decade later.
2 The Presence Of Royalty
In another flawless piece by Morkorney, we glean Dooku at the zenith of his refinement. His flowing brown robes and silver clasp remind us of his presence in Star Wars Episode II - Attack Of The Clones, notably his influence on Geonesis and the many epic battles which ensued from them.
It was a rare instance where the Count would be able to claim the role of the main antagonist, with Sidious still lurking in the background and Grievous yet to be properly introduced. Though Jango Fett made for a nice villain, he was too easily dispatched to be considered a credible threat.
1 Vengeance From The Grave
Oftentimes, force ghosts manifest in a way similar to Obi-Wan, serving a role like a gentle counselor and (literal) spiritual advisor. DarthDestruktor realizes that this is not always the case with his hauntingly beautiful piece.
Unlike the angelic tinge of ordinary force ghosts, Dooku's specter is as blood-red as the lightsaber he once wielded. Having been cut down by the Jedi and betrayed by the sith, Dooku's apparition has developed an insatiable appetite for revenge. He unleashes lightning on those who have wronged him, only relenting in his rampage when he is finally put down for good.
