Andor creator Tony Gilroy has revealed exactly when shooting for the live-action Star Wars series' upcoming second season is slated to begin.

Gilroy confirmed to Collider that Andor Season 2 is officially set to enter production the Monday before Thanksgiving (i.e. Nov. 21). The writer explained that he is going to fly out to London for the first shoot of the new season later this month, before quickly turning around and heading back home for the holiday. Gilroy initially disclosed back in September that Season 2 was targeting a November production start.

Additionally, Gilroy revealed to Collider that his brother, Dan Gilroy, and Beau Willimon are returning as writers for Andor Season 2. They will be joined on the new season by incoming writer Tom Bissell. Gilroy described Bissell as a "really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we're going into Rogue [One]."

Gilroy also confirmed that Andor Season 2 will feature an entirely new directorial team consisting of the previously-announced Ariel Kleiman, as well as Janus Metz and Alonso Ruizpalacios. These three directors will helm individual arcs up the upcoming season. The ongoing Andor Season 1, meanwhile, features the directorial team of Toby Haynes, Susanna White and Benjamin Caron.

Andor Season 1 Is Currently Streaming

Set within Lucasfilm's Star Wars universe, Andor serves as a prequel to the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which Gilroy co-wrote. The series stars Diego Luna, who reprises his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One. Andor Season 1 premiered on Disney+ on Sept. 21, with nine episodes having aired at the time of this writing. The Season 1 finale is expected to hit the platform on Nov. 23.

Andor is slated to consist of a total of 24 episodes, split into two 12-episode seasons. The ongoing Season 1 takes place in 5 BBY, five years before Rogue One. The upcoming second and final season will cover the subsequent four years, leading directly into the events of the 2016 Star Wars anthology film.
