At the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983) Anakin Skywalker found redemption for his crimes with the help of his son Luke and stayed in the world of the living by becoming a Force Ghost. A solid number of popular Star Wars characters survived the battle of Endor, which would create an interesting situation in which they would get to meet Anakin's Force Ghost.

Some of those heroes would embrace him back and others would be less forgiving especially when the impact of Vader's evil is taken into account. Here are 5 characters that would forgive Anakin's Force Ghost and 5 that would treat him with hostility.

10 Would: Luke Skywalker

No one would be happier than Luke to interact with his father and hear his whole life story. The reunited father and son will have so much to share and will be able to make up for the decades that the Emperor stole from them.

One of the saddest aspects of their relationship was that they spent almost all of their time together as foes, hacking at each other with lightsabers and never really got the chance to be a family.

9 Wouldn't: Princess Leia

Darth Vader delivered devastating punishment while loyally serving Darth Sidious and unfortunately some of his and the Empire's crimes were just too much.

Leia grew up on the planet of Alderaan and she witnessed her home's destruction, while Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin held her as a hostage. That is the type of wound that would be very difficult to heal, even after her father's turn to the light.

8 Would: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Alec Guiness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: A New Hope

Obi-Wan's failure as Anakin's master will undoubtedly haunt him forever. The news of the Emperor's demise at the hands of no other than his former padawan must have been one of the happiest moments in his life.

It means that, after all this time, some part of Kenobi's teachings has remained in Anakin and has helped him made the crucial decision to save his son's life and end the Sith's. Vader might have technically killed Kenobi but the Jedi Knight has the type of personality that is above holding a grudge.

7 Wouldn't: Han Solo

As far as forgiving Vader goes, Solo will likely support his wife and join her in her unavoidable spite for her father. Anakin has not obliterated Han's homeworld but he did torture him extensively in the cloud city of Bespin in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

Furthermore, one of the toughest challenges that the scoundrel has ever faced is Leia's wrath and he will likely try to escape it.

6 Would: Master Yoda

It is unclear whether Yoda would be more or less forgiving than Obi-Wan but one thing is certain - the former Grand Master would be ready to treat Anakin as an ally, following the events on the second Death Star.

In Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (2005), Yoda never really lost faith in Anakin in the way Obi-Wan did. During his duel with the Emperor, he specifically reminded his greatest rival that he would be wrong to put too much trust in his new apprentice.

5 Wouldn't: Chewbacca

Chewbacca from Star Wars

Chewbacca isn't a member of the Jedi Order and he doesn't have a history with Anakin. In the eyes of the Wookie, Vader has caused nothing but harm to his friends so if he were to face off with the Force Ghost of Luke's father, the meeting wouldn't provoke much more than an angry growl.

Chewie should also remember the assassination attempt on Yoda in which Anakin was involved as well (although indirectly).

4 Would: Ahsoka Tano

Much like Luke, Ahsoka refused to give up on her friend and master, even when she saw his face behind the mask of Vader. Anakin returning as a Force Ghost would make her rejoice.

She would be one of the few people, alongside Luke that will probably spend the majority of their day in the company of the redeemed Skywalker. If they were to meet after the events of the original trilogy, she and Luke would be bound to become the best of friends.

3 Wouldn't: Emperor Palpatine

Darth Sidious with red eyes

Vader wouldn't gain only friends through his heroic final deed. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) revealed that Sidious survived so it would mean that the former Sith master and apprentice had permanently become enemies.

Anakin's Force Ghost did make an appearance in the final battle against Sidious when he inspired Rey to rise back up. It would have been even better if he had shown up more consistently throughout the sequel trilogy.

2 Would: Captain Rex

Captain Rex

It remains unclear whether Rex from Star Wars: The Clone Wars knew that his former general had become Darth Vader. And even if he knew, it would be extremely tough for him to hate on Anakin's Force Ghost and not just because he will be reminded of his beloved commander and friend.

Vader kept being in charge of the 501-st Legion throughout the decades-long reign of the Empire and he commanded them with respect, caution, and even care and a clone like Rex will always appreciate that.

1 Wouldn't: R2D2

R2D2 on the Death Star in Star Wars a New Hope

R2D2 is one unique character because he happened to be close to all the drama from the Skywalker saga from start to finish. The little hero was there to see Anakin's downfall and witness Luke's struggles. The Astromech droid is unusually emotional and there really hasn't been any indication that he would still treat Anakin with respect after all the fallen Jedi has caused.

When Obi-Wan got the job done on Mustafar, R2D2 wasn't hostile against him. How does he feel? What does he think? R2D2's silence on the matter makes these questions difficult to answer but his actions speak for themselves - he chose to assist Luke and the Rebels, who fought versus Vader.
